    Biography:

    Dr. Raj Kakar was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He attended LSU for his undergraduate studies before completing his medical degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. 

    He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for his residency in Internal Medicine.  From there he was invited for fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at Stanford University.  He greatly enjoyed his time both in San Antonio and at Stanford, and visits both regularly.  Dr. Kakar is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. 

    He and his wife Laura share special interests in child advocacy and increasing the awareness of the importance of sleep. He is an active member of the following organizations:

    Biography:

    Stephanie Silberman, Ph.D., DABSM, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. She served twice as president of the Broward Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association. She has appeared on television news and in national magazines regarding sleep-related issues. Her recent book, The Insomnia Workbook: A Comprehensive Guide to Getting the Sleep You Need, is not only a self-help guide for people with insomnia, but also a useful reference tool for health-care professionals.

    Dr. Silberman evaluates and treats a wide range of sleep disorders, including insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder, circadian rhythm disorders, night terrors, recurrent nightmares, and numerous other sleep disorders. She works in collaboration with sleep laboratories, as some patients require overnight sleep studies, to aid in proper diagnosis.

    Dr. Silberman maintains a private practice in Fort Lauderdale where she treats a variety of psychological disorders including depression, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, bereavement, parenting issues, and relationship problems. She conducts evaluations and treatment in both English and Spanish.
